Gingivitis or sore bleeding gums are one of the most common dental problems. Bad breath is often an accompanied symptom. In advanced stages, the gum and the bone near the tooth get involved, leading to “periodontitis” (inflammation of bone and gum).
Treatment of the underlying cause is the method of treating all gum problems. The first step usually is full mouth cleaning or oral prophylaxis, scaling and root planing. If necessary, flap surgery or Periodontal Microsurgery is done to correct the defects in the underlying bone or surrounding gum tissue.
